About
Writer/sailor/farmer/chef/mother
The feeling of soil under her fingernails, a carrot firmly in her fist, a wooden rake ready to smooth a deep brown loam resting against her arm. A starry night and undulating seas quieting her mind and enlivening her soul during an offshore sailing journey. Her daughter leading her with a soft small hand, tugging her over pastures and through woods to find wonder in every blade of grass and minuscule valley of bark. The pop and hiss of freshly harvested vegetables and lovingly raised meat sauteed in a seasoned cast iron pan in a farmhouse kitchen.
Jenny Goff writes about what she loves. Words and images help define the world that defines her.
Jenny has sailed over 35,000 nautical miles over the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and the Caribbean sea. When she was twenty five she sailed with her partner from San Diego, CA to New York City via the Panama Canal on their 32’ sloop. She subsequently worked on mega-yachts and sailboats up and down the eastern seaboard and Caribbean, including three wonderful years on Walter Cronkite’s ketch Wyntje. In 2016 she raced a 23’ trimaran from Port Townsend, WA to Ketchikan, Alaska, in the 2nd annual Race to Alaska (rules: no engine, no support). The crew of three women made it to the finish line in 13.5 days. She now stares longingly out at Puget Sound and dreams of the fast-approaching time when her small family will take to the sea!
Jenny lives with her husband and small daughters on an island in the beautiful state of Washington. They raise goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, pigs and a variety of vegetables and fruit on their six-acre farmstead.
She writes about cooking, sailing, farming, & parenthood for magazines, newspapers, and internet-based media.
